Wedding Cake for Breakfast?

Oh, today I had wedding cake for breakfast and it was wonderful.  I also felt a bit like a hobbit having first breakfast and then second breakfast, maybe I should do that more often!  I chose not to get sleep and hang out with some of my family and watch the royal wedding (from 2:45am-6:45am).  Much fun was had.

We started with tea and crumpets prior to the cake.

He is Risen

Sunday, today and every day!  I was disappointed I didn't get to post on Easter and then I thought it applies to every day really :)  For breakfast we made ressurection rolls together.  It was so much fun.  You take a marshmallow, which represents Jesus, and dip it into melted butter.  Then you roll it around in a cinnamon/sugar mixture and place it into a pillsbury crescent roll triangle.  Seal the marshmallow in the roll tight and dip the top into melted better and roll in cinnamon/sugar and bake.

Hot out of the oven!

Inside of the rolls.  No marshmallow - just the empty tomb.
The kids loved this visual and tasty treat!

For Easter our church has a tradition of flowering the cross.  You bring flowers for each member of your family and tie them to the cross during worship - I love doing this.

Me with our flowers.  This is also a good 16 week pregnancy shot :)

Sunday night we got to celebrate with good friends over a lovely Easter dinner.  David made an empty tomb cake.  I thought it was so creative.
 David's cake!

That's some of what we did.  Hope you had a good one and were able to celebrate the one who paid the price!

Coloring Eggs

Today we had so much fun letting the kids dye Easter eggs.  I was surprised how interested my kiddos were in the hard boiling process but they were!  I ended up giving C a mini Science lesson on the phases of water!

Batch #1

Preparing the dye, we used vinegar

Daddy helping D.

D showing she can do it!

A making an egg two colors.

C having lots of fun :)

 Some of our eggs.

This picture made me do a double take.  I have always thought that B and C favored each other but you can really see that in this photo.

Hard to Believe...

It is hard to believe that over 7 years ago A was born and then spend 10/11 days in the NICU at the hospital.  This past weekend we were able to go to her annual Neonatal Reunion Picnic!  This is always so fun because it celebrates life and all the little ones who make it out of the NICU (some born super early) and it is also a chance to remember those who were never able to make it home.

Here is A in the hospital NICU.

Here are the girls climbing a tree at the party!

B enjoying her butterfly face paint!

 D loved the duckie game.

 They had a train ride.

And the kiddos favorite thing was probably the bounce houses!

My Brown Eyed Girl...

When David and I started having children he was convinced that he would never have a blue-eyed child.  David has brown eyes and I have blue.  A, B & C all have beautiful blues.  Then David thought we might not have a brown-eyed child.  And then D entered the picture.

Little Debbie is my friend

Check out what I received in the mail today!  A box of Little Debbie goodness.  This is in preparation for my Little Debbie House Party next week!  I cannot wait to enjoy these goodies with my friends.  If you wanna come, let me know and I will tell you if space is still available.

Gearing Up For School

In a little over a week we will begin school again.  I am so excited.  This is probably my favorite part.  A will start the 2nd grade, B will start Kindergarten, C will begin pre-K and D will tag along!  Some might wonder why I start so early but it just gives me so much flexibility and when baby E arrives we should be ahead so that will be great and allow for us to have a break :)

This year my school takes up two shelves!!

The Tooth Fairy is Coming Tonight

A just lost her second upper tooth while eating lunch today!  This makes number 4 for her (two lower, two upper).  I guess I will have to get some change ready...

A and her beautiful new smile!

Baby E!

Well, this news is overdue on my blog but here it is anyway: we are expecting!  Baby E is due to arrive somewhere on or around October 8th of this year :)

Here is Baby E as of 7 weeks ago.  And let me tell you a lot has changed in that amount of time!!  That buldge on the bottom is the yolk sac (in case you are wondering like I was).  Apparently they (the doctors) like big yolk sacs.  I find out something new every pregnancy.

I will actually be having my second ultrasound in ~ 4 weeks so that will be fun to show a comparison.  And for those wondering, we are not going to find out the gender (just like with the first four!).

A, B & C are super excited!  There is much talk amongst them as to what the gender and name will be.  We have told D but I don't think she quite gets it yet but I know she will be a great big sister.  So there you have it, officially :)
